Summer brings heat and dryness that can be especially challenging to those with chronic illness and/or undergoing treatments and care processes. There are a few products that I've added to my personal lists of essentials for the summer. If you have tried any of these, please leave a comment with your own experience.
Purifying & Deodorizing Body Spritzer by Mirai
Who knew persimmon tannins were effective at eliminating odor? Evidently, persimmon extract has traditionally been used in Japan for its purifying and deodorizing benefits.
Treatment schedules and care processes can interfere with daily hygiene activities and lead to a desire for freshness. This is especially true for those challenged by troublesome Nonenal odor, which is caused by aging and hormonal imbalances.
The little body spray bottle can be kept close by and used to add some personal freshness when and where it is needed. Other body and home care products are also available.
Hydrating Gel-Cream for Feet by Kamedis
Kamedis has a wonderful natural psorisis shampoo, but I recently learned about a hydrating gel-cream for feet that are more prone to dryness and cracking in hot summer months. It is thick and and creamy; ideal for applying just before rest time or putting on socks.
While hydration is the most important thing for many with chronic conditions or taking certain medications, a little help from products sometimes makes a tremendous difference. Kamedis also offers other products using botanical rhubarb to help hydrate dry, irritated and cracked skin from eczema, diabetes and other conditions.
CBD Essentials Lip Balm by Cannaisseur Brands
CBD for pain relief and inflammation is all around us these days. On hot dry days, especially when taking certain medications, lips can be prone to cracking and pain. This lip balm hydrates and moisturizes, but also helps with the pain. And, the coconut flavored one makes me think of a fluffy white coconut cake from the hospital dining room of years past; each time it is applied.
In addition to the lip balm, other CBD essential "farm to skin" products include a salt soak and on-the-go transdermal patch.
