As a hospital administrator, I was sometimes called upon to support patients, families or even employees who were going through difficult times in their lives. I learned fairly quickly in my career to express empathy and support the natural grieving process... not fight it and rush to make things "all better." Today, I find these skills help me support an aging parent who is experiencing loss of functional abilities and needing to work to recover quality of life.
I truly believe everything happens for a reason. Seeing this video on Facebook yesterday reaffirms this belief. Perhaps you too will find value in this video.
