Last night the Thomas fire drove residents and patients out of their nursing homes and hospitals; after chasing patients out of a psychiatric hospital a couple of nights before. This is in addition to people forced to flee their homes and seek shelter elsewhere.
In 1990, the fast moving Painted Cave Fire - driven by Santa Ana winds - burnt our house to the ground. With nothing left, the Salvation Army stepped up and truly helped my husband in the way he needed most - the ability to go to work and earn money to build anew. Since then, they are our go to charity.
The army is once again providing salvation to victims of fire in the region. It occurred to me that donating a portion of all proceeds from orders on my online store, should go to them as they fight the fight and assist those who are fatigued and in need.
If you are looking for gift items for someone with functional limitations, or just want to place an order to donate an item to someone affected by the fire, please visit my store. If you donate an item, I'll make sure it gets to someone in need - just send me a note that you want me to make the donation on your behalf.
I also share an article I wrote about those with functional limitations and disaster. It is a good time to re-share this important information.
