Several blog posts ago, I wrote about how standing of from a couch was nearly impossible for me. Had I known at the time about the EZ Stand and Go, I would have gotten one. Today, I thought back and want to share a little about my experience with getting out of automobiles.
For starters, I drove a Mountaineer until late this summer. So, my getting out usually involved a control fall; especially since I'm also short of stature. But, if I rode in anyone's regular car, I had to figure out some way to have my arms push me up. My legs and feet just couldn't do it as they had always done so in the past. This usually involved my husband or someone else pulling me up to a standing position.
So, I laughed when I saw that the makers of the EZ Stand and Go also have this handy tool the Metro Car Handle Plus. It fits into the loop on car doors and provides a sturdy handle so you can push yourself up and maintain some balance.
I now have a more regular vehicle (a cross-over), but I've also been getting treatment and my paralysis has improved greatly. Today, I can once again stand myself up out of a car and off of a couch. I'm fortunate and realize this fact. If you, or someone you know, needs a little help standing on your own, perhaps the Metro Car Handle Plus is what you need.
