Before I knew I had GBS, I also didn't know I had foot drop. I slowly got a diagnosis for both. But, no one said anything about AFOs (Ankle Foot Orthosis) and that they could help me walk with less risk of trips and falls.
Foot drop is the inability to lift the front part of the foot up (toes) due to compression or damage to the nerve that controls muscles that lift the foot. It creates challenges with walking, climbing stairs, navigating rough surfaces, etc.
Since I was speaking with my hand therapist and she asked if she could help with anything else, I mentioned my foot drop and that is how in November, I learned that braces are available. But, they are mostly big and bulky. So, I looked around for something else, maybe new, and found FlopStop. Since it works with my flip flops and narrow tennis shoes, I'm happy. Watch the video and see what you think. I've also come across another option, a little more expensive, but need to test it first.
My foot drop is no longer severe, so I'm now sure how it would work in these situations. But, the makers offer a full refund, so it is worth a try.
