My first COO role was at a large acute psychiatric hospital and it taught me a great deal about suicide and the people who attempt or complete this self destructive act. Since that time I've learned of a few examples where social and mobile was being applied in behavioral health environments. One was the military's use of text messaging to help reduce the risk of suicide with special populations.
Now I hear that their efforts have expanded into a National Strategy for Suicide Prevention. The strategy leverages:
- Facebook and other social networking sites
- email outreach
- blogs
- mobile apps and devices
- texting
