Yesterday I helped celebrate 25 years of promoting compassion and listening in healthcare by Adventures in Caring. Twenty five years ago Karen Fox began visiting patients at Cottage Hospital and soon expanded her scope from touching the lives of individuals to many by ensuring that the medicine of compassion is delivered to the sick and injured by all care providers.
One of their most important investments in the future is made by teaching college students who are considering medical professions the art of connecting with their patients at the start of their careers.
This nonprofit organization offers training (on-site and award-winning DVDs) to healthcare professionals and volunteer and family care providers. I encourage you to learn more about their work and use their tools to help your facility improve the care being provided and the satisfaction of your patients.
