Information Week reported on a recent briefing by the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) which highlighted the facts that states are large payers of health-care services through programs like Medicaid, as well as, large purchasers of health benefits for state employees. As a result, NASCIO leaders are encouraging state CIOs to:
- promote eHealth efforts and remove barriers hindering health-care IT improvement in their state.
- keep tabs on how ehealth record initiatives are shaping up in their states, including efforts by public and private health-care providers participating in regional health information organizations, or RHIOs, as well as federal health IT progress.
So, invite your State CIO to participate in your community's regional health information collaborative today!
