The AHIMA has a paper titled "Surveying the RHIO Landscape: A Description of Current RHIO Models, with a Focus on Patient Identification". After reading it, I realized that I have not met many Health Information Management professionals in my RHIO travels and it has caused me to wonder how involved they are with the RHIOs in their area. As this particular paper points out, HIM professionals are, "skilled in patient identification methods and possessing significant organizational skills and personnel management experience".
So if you are a leader or stakeholder involved in a RHIO, I ask you to scan the list of those involved in planning to see if you have an opportunity to improve contributions from the HIM (medical records) perspective.
